The Tour of our famous sports arenas

Just before Wally left he went home with one of our students. Emma and family took Wally to four important places in our Springfield & Eugene city communities. Here is his tour of the Springfield City Library and 3 sports facilities at the University of Oregon, home of the Ducks!

We look forward to seeing what Australia looks like! Are there similar places in your community? What are the team names? Is there a local university? What animal is their mascot?

  1. Grand Island does not have a big university. We have Central Community College. They don't have sports teams. The University of Nebraska has three locations - Lincoln, Omaha and Kearney. Kearney is only 40 minutes from Grand Island. They are the Lopers, short for Antelopes. The University in Omaha are the Mavericks, and Lincoln is the Cornhuskers. When the University started sports teams, they were called the Bugeaters, a nickname for the pioneers.

  3. It is nice to know that Wally likes Australia so much. There are things in my community that are like yours. The professional sports team names are the Phillies, the Eagles, the Union, and the Flyers. There is a local university. The places you took Wally look really interesting. What are ways that the places relate to each other?
